We recommend having the following equipment setup to help ensure you will have an enjoyable virtual learning experience.
Devices
Click on each item below to learn more about which devices to use for connecting to a virtual training session.
Computer:
Use a desktop or laptop computer to connect. Tablets and mobile phones often don’t support full platform functionality and you will have a diminished experience, so those devices are better used as a second screen to view additional electronic participant materials.
Screens:
If possible, use two monitors or a computer plus a tablet so you can see the virtual classroom and your electronic materials without having to toggle.
Connecting:
Connect to the session using your own equipment as an individual, not as part of a group sharing a computer.
Internet Connection
VPN or No VPN?
VPNs are known to degrade your connection which will impact your experience. Please disable your VPN and use a direct Internet connection.
Wired or Wireless?
A wired Internet connection will give you a more reliable and robust connection with less disruption to audio and video output.
Connecting from Home?
If participating from home, you may want to ask others in your home to limit their Internet activity during your virtual training.
Audio-Video
A wired headset with microphone for Voiceover IP (VoIP) or phone connections will give you a better audio experience. Using earbuds with a microphone is also an option.
If using a wireless headset, be sure it’s fully charged prior to your session.
Be camera ready! There may be opportunities to be on webcam at times. Have a background that isn’t too distracting.
